Silver Arrows requires little watering – only water the plant when its soil gets dry to the touch. If keeping the cactus outdoors, rainwater may be enough for it. But make sure to check the plant out often and water it if the soil is dry and no rain is expected. For the most part, these species are globose or ball-shaped plants which grow either solitary or in clumps. Some clumps may reach over 3 feet (1m) with many stems. Few species grow much over around 6-8 inches in height by 4-6 inches in diameter. All have nipple-like tubercles with dimorphic areoles on the ends.

Water every 2-3 weeks based on how dry the soil is, allow it to be completely dry before watering so no watering when it is already wet. In wintertime, cut back on watering. You should only water about once a month, and then quite sparingly. Just give the plant enough water to prevent having it shrivel up. Be sure to keep your plant at about 50° degrees Fahrenheit during the winter and provide plenty of indirect light.

Mammillarias can benefit from fertilization during the growing season. The fertilizer will help them to thrive and bloom. Apply a water-soluble fertilizer for cacti and other succulents. A houseplant fertilizer higher in phosphorus than nitrogen, such as a 5-10-5 solution, can also be used.

If its hot when you got it water it NEVER fertilize it when you get it after weather issues.
