The Harrisii Tillandsia with really cool features that are one of a kind and very easy to take care of. It can grow good size for a air plant with a thick and long stem. They grow green leaves that have white tint with leaves that grow inwards and have are curled structure like that of a flower.
Trichomes cover this air plant allowing it to absorb moisture and nutrients from the air so they do not need nor can not grow in soil.
Harrisii they love sunlight and unlike most air plants they can take it hot and directly on them. The key to keeping them healthy is air circulation spraying it 3-5times a week and feed it airplant food is optional.

The common name and scientific name of this air plant is Tillandsia Harrisii Ehlers. Renate Ehlers first found this species in 1987.
The air plant is in the family of Tillandsia and this one also belongs to family of Bromeliaceae. Tillandsia Harrisii belongs to the subfamily of Tillandsioideae.

🌺Flower
This air plant has a great bloom and flowering. You will love the flowers they are red inflorescence with blue-violet/purple flowers. They have no fragrance and are dark violet/purple in color. Unlike most airplants it can have quite a few flowers as many as 10 flowers. Like all air plants this air plant ONLY BLOOMs when its mature and can last for a few weeks then will start producing up to 10 babies. Tillandsia Harrisii blooms beautifully. Its red bloom complements its greyish white leaves.

Tillandsia Harrisii plant care Tips

Water
There are many ways to water Tillandsia Harrisii. You can mist, dunk or soak your plant depending on your convenience and the type of display you have placed it in.

If you choose the misting method, mist the plant 3-7 times a week until the plant is drenched in water.

If your plant is mounted on a display which is prone to fungus growth, you can use the dunking method. Submerge the plant in water completely 2-4 times a week. Make sure that you don’t submerge the mounting object.

If it is convenient to take out the plant from its display, you can soak the plant in water for 1-2 hours once a week. The watering needs of your plant might differ depending on the humidity in your area. If it is very humid, you can decrease the time duration or frequency of watering.

After watering the air plant, hold the plant upside down so that all the trapped water between the leaves flows out. Don’t put the plant under direct sunlight and make sure there is enough air circulation so that the plant dries. Drying of the plant is necessary to avoid rotting or fungus growth.

Light
Tillandsia Harrisii requires plenty of indirect sunlight. They can stand direct sunlight during early mornings and late afternoons.

They grow in the canopies of trees in forests and on mountains. They get a moderate amount of sunlight and shade. Some direct sunlight during early morning or late afternoon can brighten the color of its leaves.

Place the plant near a window where it can get plenty amount of indirect sunlight. Avoid keeping them in spaces with low lights. Also, avoid putting them in direct sunlight for long as that can burn and dry out the leaves.

Temperature
Tillandsia Harrisii grows well in warm areas. The favorable range of temperature for this plant is 50-80 degrees Fahrenheit or 10-32 degrees Celsius. If the plant is kept sheltered and dry, also it can withstand temperatures from -3.9 degree Celsius to 10 degrees Celsius for a few hours.

If you want it to grow faster and bigger you can feed it air plant food or fertilize the plant about once per month. You can give them food about 2 times a month but not advised to give too much as it can do harm.
